![]() I didn't have a great time of it so was determined to try for VBAC when I got pregnant again. I had my daughter by C Section in 2005 following failed induction which was done because I had pre-eclampsia at 35 weeks. So bang there they went again, apparently I had two, lucky me. My waters had to be broken for me, the midwife then said "eh Ill be back in a min", when she came back with another midwife, this one said that I needed to start pushing, as I was pushing the second midwife said "I thought you broke her waters?" the other said "I have" she said well she has another sack, EH me listening to all of this, hello, Im hear. I was doing fine until my midwife said "would you like some gas" and as anyone whos been through labour knows you'd take a shot of after shock if you think it will get the little lovely out. ![]() I got into a few positions, into the bath, where I had my "I cant do this" stage. We all bundled in the car and packed as if we were all going to the bahamas for two weeks, LOL (they must have thought we were mad at the hospital) we got stuck in early morning traffic, to which my contractions slowed down but the panic in the car from mum and hubby were rising, (I however was fine). Anywhoo, I phoned the hospital at 9am to say that my contractions had started but was staying at home (which they encouraged as they were full) at 9:40 they were really strong where I felt I needed to push, I phoned the hospital again and they told me to get an anbulance, I didn't my contractions were coming really quickly. my lovely mum had been rubbing my feet, bless her (which was lovely) with aromatherapy oils. Mum got up, husband came home (and went to bed, which was ok) at 7:30 the contractions got really strong, I had been doing things like bouncing on a gym ball, laying on the sofa etc. I told her to go back to stay in bed as I didn't want her to get up if they stopped, I phoned my husband and told him that my contractions had started and if he wanted to come home that was fine, but they wasn't strong. My daughter is nearly 2 4 months, she was born 18 June 06, at around 2 in the morning I woke up from a dream where I was in labour, lo and behold I was, my husband was on nights and my mum was staying with me, at 2:30am I shouted to my mum, that I thought I had started my contractions, which were quite nice at that time. And you are constantly monitored - and the feeling of having done it all yourself is wonderful!!:D The risks in having a VBAC are there, but only happen in a few cases. All went absolutely smooth sailing (well except for the pain!!) Gave birth at 8pm that evening with no complications. They gave me the drip and also artificially ruptured my waters - me scared like hell! But the midwives were constantly checking me and bump, I had to wear one of those monitoring belts. In the end I was booked in for a induction at 10am on April 15 08. This upset me quite a lot because I felt I had missed out on giving birth naturally.įell pregnant again July last year, was told I had a good chance of a vbac as the reason for my c-sec was not really medical, but they also focussed so much on telling me about ruptures and increased risk of serious complications which ended up scaring me so much! Heres my story, I had my first child by C-section in 2005 - was in labour all weekend and by the time I was 7cms dilated they realised my baby was in brow position and so they took me to theatre as I was exhausted and baby was becoming distressed. ![]() That's it short and sweet and am hoping to add my own positive story here in about 4 weeks. He needed a bit of help with a ventouse at the end but she had no regrets - recovered within hours rather than months and says there is no comparison if she were to have another she would go for vaginal birth over section any day. I think she did terrifically and was incredibly brave as she hadn't fully laboured with the first. She found some midwives who championed her cause not to be constantly monitored and in fact for most of the time laboured in birthing pool in hospital - only having to get out at the end. It's not my story - it's my sisters so I don't know all gory details but basically she had emergency c section (quite calm unrushed one if there is such a thing) having been induced with drip as baby was small and she wasn't progressing in natural labour. She only dilated 2 cm and in the end had a section which she recovered from in standard time with no extra complications of infections.Ģ yrs later she gave birth by VBAC to a healthy baby boy. ![]() ![]() Just thought I would add something as no replies makes me feel jittery. ![]()
